Pause for Gratitude

Happy Memorial Day!

There seems like no better thought to share today – this week – then to stop, pause, reflect, and share gratitude.

Hopefully everyone had a peaceful and thoughtful holiday weekend. Perhaps you took a mini-vacation, spent time with family and friends, worked on a house project, or just slept in. Whatever your activity of choice – did you find time for gratitude?

If not (or even if you did) – take some time now to express some gratitude.

Make a quick list, and label it like this:

Home:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Family/Friends:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Work:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Whatever else:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Okay, take some time to fill out the list. Now, how do you feel?

Are you sitting at your desk? Are you able to take a moment and shift your thought from whatever problems and frustrations seem to be bothering you right now – and replace it with gratitude?

Gratitude is transformational. No matter how bad things are, gratitude is like a ray of hope, a glimmer of joy even in the darkest moments.

On this Memorial Day week, I am grateful for all of the people serving our country here and around the world – and who have served our country in the past. I am grateful for all of the support during the Boston Marathon tragedy, as well as all of the people assisting in Oklahoma right now.

I am grateful for my wife, my kids, and my enormous and loving family. I am grateful for friends, my many jobs, and all of life’s lessons.

I am grateful for the opportunity to write this blog this week.

What are you grateful for?
